Blushed Nudes

As we all know Valentines day is soon approaching, personally I'm not a huge fan but I am loving all the Valentine looks that a lot of mua's and beauty bloggers are creating. You might have noticed that pink eyeshadow is something of a trend now and I really want to try it out so I went and picked up Maybelline's 'The Blushed Nudes' palette.
There are 12 shades all consisting of pinks, browns and nudes. I literally love all the shades, the browns and nudes look good with my skin tone but I was at first a bit unsure about the pink, I thought maybe they would look better on a cooler skin tone, but they are fine! The shades are a mix of matte and shimmer which I love and the eyeshadow itself is pretty decently pigmented. The swatches shows only show one swipe of each shade so I'm happy with it and if you wanted a more intense look all you would have to do is pack more on!
Another great thing about this palette is the way the shades are positioned. If you are a bit of a beginner or unsure on how to make the colours work together, on the back of the palette it shows you how the shades are intelligently placed to work in either a quad, trio or duo formation. There is even instructions explaining how to apply each look so you can't go wrong. This is a really great feature and it will definitely help to quickly create a beautiful eye look for anyone!

All in all a very beautiful palette. It's a decently pigmented palette ever and the beautiful range of shades I think it is great. At the moment it is only £7.99 in Boots (down from £9.99) so worth picking up especially just in time for Valentines day!

My Glow Go-to

Hi today's post isn't about anything new but actually a product that is quite old. It is one of my faaaavorites but I don't think a lot of people really know about it.

We have to admit that 17 is hardly the most in demand highstreet makeup brand, and whilst I don't particularly like (or know) most of what they sell their 'Instant Glow Shimmer Brick' is my go to when wanting a bronzey look.

It comes in 2 different shades,'Pink Bronze' and 'Gold Bronze'. Being mixed race I have a very warm complexion so I always get gold bronze but if you have a lighter, cooler complexion maybe you would go for pink bronze. (Also sorry about the pics, it has been used... a lot).
The amazing thing about this powder is that you can use it anywhere on the face. You can use it on your eyes for eyeshadow, use the lightest shade for a highlight and obviously you can sweep your brush through all the shades to use as a bronzer to give a lovely shimmery glow. I have even patted the powder over a lipstick to give it a sheen. Whenever I want a ultra bronzed look this is my go to product, and if I need to be quick you could literally get away with using only this product (obviously along with your foundation/ concealer and brows/ mascara). I think I will post this look soon.

Another thing I love about it is that it isn't glittery, I can't stress how much I hate this- there is a MASSIVE difference between glitter and shimmer. The colours are ultra pigmented and you only need one sweep of the brush for great application and it will last you for ages! Something you wouldn't expect from a low price brand. When ever I use this bronzing brick I get a ton of compliments (especially at work) about my skin, people say I have glowing or great skin and when I tell them it's a product from 17 they can't believe me.

I absolutely loveeee this and I love the amazing price at only £4.99! It's definitely something I will buy again and again and I will continue to use for a long time. Pick it up from Boots and give it a try!

Nyx High Voltage Lipstick

Hello! Today I am writing about a brand that some of you may not know. If you are living in England like me you might not be familiar with the brand NYX as it is fairly new here. Boots is the first major UK store to suppy NYX, and even with Boots you can only order it from their website as it's not in stores yet- annoying because that means no testers! I heard of NYX a looooong time ago and I was going to order some from America but with all the shipping and long delivery times I gave up. So when I heard Boots was going to stock it I was so excited to try it and for Christmas my sister very kindly bought me some products. Today I am going to share with you the NYX High Voltage lipstick's.
The shades I have are 'Twisted', 'Wine & Dine', 'Feline', 'Burlesque' and 'Hollywood'. First impressions when I applied it- I loved it. It's so light and smooth and literally glides right on. I hate it when lipsticks are thick or gooey on your lips, I like it when it feels like there is almost nothing on my lips, so I'm smiling. All the shades I tried are super high pigmented which is no suprise really as it does say "High Voltage lipstick".

I do love a matte lip, not a massive gloss lover, but even though these aren't matte they are certainly not glossy. They are very smooth and creamy but have a slight sheen once applied. The texture is beautiful. The staying power is decent and I only had to touch up twice which think is good.

Another thing, with the packaging yes it does look very boring and basic but there is plus side. I know it sounds silly but some lipsticks are so chunky they are annoying to store or bring around with you but these are great and I think they look similar to Max Factors Lipfinity lipsticks. I also think the size of the lipstick really made it easy to apply for me as it is smaller than a normal lipstick.

Overall if you are looking for a highly pigmented lipstick, especially for bright shades, that have a beautiful texture and don't cost a fortune then you should definitely take a look at these NYX high voltage lipsticks.

Push up Mascara?

Helloooo! It has been soooo cold recently like literally freezing, but the weather these past couple of days has actually been quite nice. I don't know if I'm the only person that gets seriously sad if it's too cold, is anyone else like that? Anyway onto the blog post today which is Maybelline's the Falsies Push up Drama mascara.

I absolutely looove Maybelline's Lash Sensational mascara, I think it's the best one I've ever used, but before that I never really used much Maybelline. I think the first foundation I bought myself was their Dream Matte Mousse, which was awful from what I cant remember, so after that I never really bothered with Maybelline. But recently I am loving their lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes, and when I saw Gigi Hadid modeling this new mascara I had to try it. So I bought it!
I had high hopes as it promises a lot. It say's 'bold, thick volume gravity-defying lift'. I personally would have used the word clumpy! I took a close up of my eye before and after application and I think you will see what I am talking about. I admit from afar it doesn't look THAT bad but up close you can see just how clumpy it is. I also took a close up of the brush too. The bristles are cupped shapped that are meant to help push up the lashes and coat them to make them appear thicker. It definitely made my lashes thicker but I don't like the look.
Another thing I didn't like was the fact that after a few hours of wearing this mascara, half of it was under my eyes. I was forever wiping black away, and even my colleague at work asked if I was tired because my eyes looked dark... not happy! The formula does say it includes styling wax to keep the lashes lifted but obviously it doesn't stay on great. I thought maybe having the styling wax would have helped to stay on but no. I am aware that no where on the packaging or advertisement does it boast about being long lasting, or 12hr wear etc but seriously, I was only 4hrs into my shift looking like a panda!

Personally I would not recommend this mascara to anyone, unless they prefer the clumpy look. I think it definitely does lift but the end result is just not worth it. The mascara I always recommend would be Maybelline's Lash Sensational as it gives much better results.

MUA Luxe Palettes

Hello! I haven't posted for a while now- well over a month actually, but I haven't been too well and posting really was the last thing on my mind... But now I'm feeling good I am happy to get back to normal! Today's post I wanted to share with you two palettes that I'm loving at the moment, MUA Luxe 10 shade palette in 'Paradise' and 'Utopia'.
Firstly about the packaging, I think it's great considering its from a brand like MUA. Not that I don't like MUA but it's such a low price brand you either expect shitty products or ugly, tacky packaging which neither is true. I personally really like MUA, I think it is aaaamazing quality for your money and these palettes are no exception to that. Another thing I like about this palette is that all the colours are continuous, like there is no space in between them. I know some people would prefer them separate, but I think it looks beautiful this way. Another good thing (in my opinion) is that it came without a brush or even worse an applicator- so happy because who even really uses those little things?!
Firstly the Paradise 'plush plum & copper' palette has 10 shades in rosey pinks, plums, bronzey coppers and browns. This one if definitely my favorite out the two. I think I looks BEAUTIFUL and it includes a few shades that I would never thought to use. I admit, when it comes to eyeshadow I can be a bit boring, I usually play it safe with a nude look or a smokey eye but this palette would be perfect to try out some of the warmer, pinker eyeshadow looks I've been seeing a lot of recently. All of the shades in this palette are shimmery, but in a good way, Normally I tend to stick to matte, but these shadows aren't crazy and glittery, they are silky soft and smooth to apply/blend. I love love love this palette and I'm so glad I've got it!
The Utopia 'nouveau nude & bare' palette has 10 shades in soft golds, nudes and browns. I can't wait to use this palette in the summer, when I go for my ultra bronzed, glowing, sun goddess look because the way these nudes shimmer are lovely. Just like the Paradise palette all 10 shades are shimmery but again more in a soft glowy way. From the swatches you can tell the colours aren't as bold and loud as the ones from the other palette but they are so smooth to blend together. When I was blending them in it felt like they were melting into my skin! Love it. Although, you might not be able to tell from the photo but I felt like the lighter shades were more pigmented than the darker ones. So you might need to apply the browns more heavily if you want a deeper, darker look but that's not the end of the world.

All in all I think these are beautiful palettes and I can't wait to use them! I think this is great example that sometimes you don't have to spend a fortune to get great products, at only £8 each from Superdrug! What a steal!!!

Real Techniques sculpting set

I have wanted to pick up a contouring brush for quite a while now and I've had my eye on the Real Techniques sculpting brush just haven't got round to getting one. I like all their other brushes and I think they are really good value for money. Anyway, so I'm out shopping and I have a look in Superdrug and not only do they have the sculpting brush in stock, not only is it 1/3 off, they also have this amazing sculpting SET and it is too is 1/3 off! It must have been my lucky day eh?

In the set there is obviously a sculpting brush, a setting brush and also an exclusive cut fan brush. I have also been wanting a fan brush for ageeesss too so this is really a bonus.

Firstly, just looking at the brushes- they are shiny!!! It's an exclusive design for the set and where it might not be the most important thing, it doesn't hurt to look nice. As with all the Real Techniques range the brushes are lovely and helps you to get a professional finish with your makeup. I use the expert face brush most days for my foundation, it just blends it out perfectly. So quality wise, they are exactly what I was expecting and I am very happy.

The sculpting brush is my absolute favorite! It makes my life sooo much easier, all I do is glide the brush just under my cheekbones to really define my contour. I use the fan brush in the same way but it creates a much softer finish and just lightly enhances rather than creating such a clean contour like the sculpting brush. It's great when your going for a more natural look or not putting a lot of time/effort into your make-up. And finally in the set, the setting brush can be used (more commonly) for powder, but I like to use it for my highlighting powder. Because it is a smaller brush, you have more control where to place your powder, such a useful little brush. I would definitely recommend this set to any contour fans and Real Techniques to anyone looking for a range of affordable, nice quality brushes!

Maybelline creamy mattes

Hello! For today's post I wanted to share with you the new Maybelline Colour Sensational: The Creamy Mattes. I absolutely loooove matte lipstick, seriously I'm addicted... The collection includes 3 red shades; 'divine wine', 'siren in scarlett' and 'craving coral', 2 pink shades; 'magnetic magenta' and 'rose rush' and also 1 nude shade 'nude embrace'. I got divine wine and nude embrace, all the other shades are quite bold and bright so not really my thing.

So what do I think? From the swatches above you can tell the lipsticks have good pigmentation and one layer provides great coverage. It's not patchy and the application is easy enough as the texture is lovely and soft, this is because it is a 'creamy matte'. Under normal light it does look more or less matte, but under the flash there is a sheen. On the packaging it does just say 'matte', which could be a little misleading. Saying that, you can easily fix this and make it appear more matte by simply blotting your lips with tissue after applying.

I love these two colours. Nude embrace is perfect for the day time. It's one of those 'my lips but better' shades. Divine wine is a beautiful deep red and an amazing shade for the night time, or equally perfect for a day time vampy look.

The staying power of this lipstick is actually alright, I was pleasantly surprised. A lot of matte lipsticks do stay on pretty well but because of it being a 'creamy matte' I wasn't expecting much, however I only had to reapply a few times through the whole day. I must admit I had to be a bit more careful with divine wine moving about as I didn't want red all around my face!!! Also this lipstick is not drying at all for me and kept my lips feeling soft, because of the lovely texture.

Overall I would recommend this lipstick, only thing is if you want a reallllyyyy matte lip then maybe this isn't the best choice for you. For the price of £6.99 I think it is a good buy and worth the money!
